This is the world’s first Android TV ever. And it’s kind of cool it’s from Sweden!

You could always talk about why you would want Android in a TV? I was a bit sceptic in the beginning. Sure, it could be “fun” to have Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and so forth directly in my TV. I wouldn’t need to boot my computer and the screen is larger then my iPhone. But is it neccessary?

Then I started talking with some people and was beginning to see the potential. Services like Netflix, YouTube, Voddler and more would be perfect! I don’t use Voddler as much today since I don’t have my computer connected to my TV, and I don’t want to watch movies sitting infront of the computer. Voddler direct in my TV would be perfect for me!

Another thing that is great is all the TV channels so called “Play” services. Here in Sweden all TV channels have their web based Play services so people could re-watch old programs anytime they want. So no need to have a recorder of some type. I could just start up SVT Play app in my Android TV and watch the lates news show anytime I want!

Another great thing is that it has a real web browser, built on webkit. I have not tried this myself so I hope they have a good navigation solution for this. My experience with the PlayStation 3 web browser is not a pleasant one. It takes time to use, write in URLs and use in general. But it will at least render the web pages correctly.

And last, it looks kind of nice! One of the best part is that the technology is separate from the TV screen, so you only have one cord to the TV on the wall, and if you want to connect other devises like a Playstation 3, DVD or BluRay player, you do it in a separate box. That means you can have the area around the TV nice and clean! You can see alot of pictures of the TV, and read all about it over at the official web site!

Today I still think they are really great, because they are. But there is a sour taste now, thanks to George Lucas, the new special editions and new trilogy.

I know that this subject has been debated over and over. Films has been made, bloggers have blogged and people have screamed. But I want to say my opinion, even though it’s just another blog post.

I think George Lucas created the best films ever, just to destroy them later and watch old fans cry. I don’t like the new trilogy, it has nothing to do with “my” Star Wars. But, George is the creator and he can do it if he likes. He obviously made a lot of money of the new films, I don’t need to like them (and I don’t). These are different films for a different audience in a different time and they work for some strange reason, since they sell.

I also don’t like the “special editions” with all the changes, special effects and whatnot. I liked the puppets and models in the original, and still thinks they look better and more authentic today than much of the computer rendered special effects that are in the new trilogy. Again, he can do it if he likes. I don’t care. But he makes it hard to say “I love Star Wars” now when most people think of the new films and the new editions of the old ones.

Fans, including me have screamed loud and clear that we want a GOOD copy of the original trilogy, unchanged out on DVD or even better, BluRay. George do not want to give us that. He don’t want to give the original fans, the fans that made him rich in the first place what they want.

Now many people are using the same argument that George Lucas is the creator of Star Wars, and he can do whatever he likes with the movies. If he don’t want to give out the original trilogy he doesn’t have to. And there I think they are wrong! He can release how many special editions he want, but I really think that he shouldn’t have a choice in NOT releasing the originals. Why do I say this?

Well, it’s a phenomenon. It’s a cultural heritage. It has meant a great deal for a lot of people. It has transformed a lot of people and it has been very, very important part of their childhood. Thanks to the original Star Wars movies, a lot of other people started their careers.

The originals is an important part of our cultural history, and should be kept safe and preserved for the future!

You can’t just take away all the music by the Beatles and say that these songs can never be played again, because the creators think they have a bad sound quality today.

George Lucas is raping our childhood memorise!

He can do as many special editions he like, just give me a good edition of the originals!

The new blog has a little different setup than my last. On the sidebar there is something called “Shoutouts”. The idea is that those post are to small to be made into “real” blog posts, but to long to be tweets. They are somewhere in between. Ideas I want to share or subjects that interest me, and I hope you.

One thing should be said (here come the excuse), the new theme is not really finished. I went live with it so I could start blogging. I will continue work with it over time, to enhance it. But it may contain bugs as it is now, so feel free to report those bugs to me and I will fix them. I haven’t really tested it in Internet Explorer (just very quick in IE8), but I mean, who uses Internet Explorer these days?

They can be about anything and everything, and hopefully bring some interesting idea to the world!
